My discus usually cower in the corner when I do water changes but usually come to shortly after I'm done. This time one of them went pale which is weird because they usually go dark while I'm changing the water. Does a pale discus mean anything? He is still pale and its been about 5 hours.

I dont know about discus, but i do know that like angels will pale when they are stressed or feeling threatened, but will usually color back up after a while.

i build up positive association in all my tanks with water changes

the fresh water going in goes in with either live food or a defrosted frozen variety (and its a different one each time)

the fish go crazy when i stick the siphon in they love it, they all peck away at the tube thinking the gravel swirling around is actuallly food...i've actually seen fish that hate high water flow swimming under the flow when the bucket is poured in

so, my suggestion is to build the positive association with the water changes

:iagree: :iagree:

I do the same..usually discus to get dark when stressed but it may vary with discus.

I suspect it could be stress but it should go back to normal..didn't you get new discus too?
