Paludarium question.

I am leaning more towards an Amazon biotope, maybe some kind of frog. I am having trouble finding frogs though, they all seem to be tree frogs.

Tree Frogs are a great way to go ... I know you some how want to stear away from them ... but a 40 breeder is a good size if it were turned on end and constructed that way. The idea of a palu is for it to be part water and part land and this could work out.

Check out this giant build with a large water area with dart frogs: http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/vivarium-terrarium/97228-225-gallon-office-setup.html

Its way cool and it show the set up and build.

Best wishes,

Wes

Thanks wes, good read.

I have actually changed my mind about the Amazon biotope. I think I am going (this week atleast lol) with a coldwater asian biotope. I just dont know what critters to put in the tank. I am most likely going with white clouds as the fish.

From everything I've read, even the indians are considered brackish. Much like with BBGs, I'm sure some species may tolerate freshwater better than others. It's very typical for brackish species to start in freshwater, but have to transition to brackish and sometimes even full marine, in order to reach their full potential of life expectancy and health. I know personally I would be hesitant to make that choice without a lot more research indicating they thrive and live long healthy lives in fresh water.
