My new 37 gallon tank will soon be ready, finally, for stocking. The two fish I hoped to build around were panda cories and Columbian tetras.
However, after searching widely through the internet, the general concensus seems to be that pandas are happier in cooler temperatures (around 68-75), and the Columbian tetras prefer the higher end of the range (around 75-80).
From your experience are these ranges right for these fish? If so, do you think I should work to the middle, around 75 degrees, which would put both more or less at the limits of their comfort zone? Or abandon this pairing?
If I had to choose only one and work within its range, I would probably go with the pandas because they are a nice size cory and available locally. What would you suggest for a cooler tropical tank, and held at what temperature? (During 2-3 summer months it would probably have to remain at around 76-77). This tank is 12x30", but 22" deep, so swimming levels will be important for a balanced appearance.
