Hi,

I think my Panda Cory is schooling with my Black Phanton Tetra, or trying to anyway, as he seems to realise what he is doing after a few minutes and then goes back to hunting around on the bottom. Is this possible or is he doing something else?

Currently he is on his own, but will be getting him some friends very soon, once I figure out if I have room and if so for how many.

On that note, I have a 3' 29G and was wondering how many Panda Corys could/should I get, the only fish that really hangs around the bottom other than the Cory is an Otto?

Stocking:

1 Three Spot Gourami
1 Moonlight Gourami
5 Neon Tetra
2 Black Phantom Tetra
1 Otto
1 Panda Cory

that sounds cool that he's hanging with your black phantoms lol :o

but, yes I agree to get a few more panda cories, and some more black phantoms

Agreed. You not only need more panda's you need more phantom's. I have a small school of six phantom's and you'll never get them to show off the great colors with just two. They are more likely to stress out and get sick as well. In your tank at your stocking level you could put in 3 more panda's, 4 to 5 more phantoms and 2 to 3 more oto's. Just don't do it all at once. Do the panda's then the phantoms then the otos, spaced a week to ten days apart. Some will tell you that you can mix cories and get the same benefit, but I believe its best to keep them with their own kind.

I have a lonely oto that schools with my gold tetras. I think it's because he doesn't have others of his own kind around. I have been waiting to find some healthy ones so I can get him more friends.

Your cory is probably lonely and needs more of his own kind around. Same for your oto, too.
