I just recently realized taht one of my panda cories lost its barbels...or at least half on one side and most on the other side. It doesn't seem to be as active as the other panda cory I have, and doesn't seem to be able to find any food. Whenever I see it being active, it's always eating algae off of the side of the tank even though I've dropped spirulina pellets and Hikari sinking wafers. So I was wondering if its lack of diet...or lack of ability to find food has anything to do with the injured barbels, and if they'll grow back. Thanks

The gravel I have in the tank are all rounded. Water parameters are ammonia-0, nitrite-0, nitrate-5. I don't think any other fish picked on them..at least I didn't see anything like it. It's likely that I got this panda like this from the store and just never noticed
Corys barbels = human nose. If a cory loses its barbels it most likely will die because it can't find enough food to survive.
Yeah, I was thinking about quarantining him...but there are some new fish in the quarantine tank right now that doesn't show any signs of illness, they've been in there for almost 2 weeks, so not that long
By the way...I do 35% water changes every week, and 60% water change every month...could the loss of barbels due to poor water quality then? If so, why is the other cory doing fine? Maybe the injured cory got the injured barbels from the fish store tank? I will put it in the QT tank tomorrow.
