I have a problem. I have inhereted numerous tropical fish with a 55gal aquarium which is now a very pretty goldfish tank (http://www.stoneentertainment.com/55gal1.jpg) I have been able to accomodate most of the newcomers except for one Paradise Fish and two Gouramis (1 Blue, 1 Gold). They are all three cooped up a 29g-long along with two small angels and four small Tetras (before you say a thing I know it's over stocked, this is only temporary). The problem is that the Blue is being particularly agressive toward the Paradise.

My question is since the Paradise is tollerant of cool water can he go in the 55gal along with the Goldfish or will he nip at their fins?

I'm concerned becuase before the Blue established dominance the Paradise was not bashful. Now he hides in a corner all day. He's not a happy fish. I'm almost tempted to put him in a 10gal all by him self, but I thought I'd get some opinions first. Thanks!

Probably will depend on his size and temperment... From my experience, they don't tend to bother larger fish. They usually only bully or harass smaller fish or other gouramis.

There's always a chance he'll be a pain, but I'd say if the Goldfish are larger, there's room to make his own territory, and he's a newcomer, he'll probably leave them alone.

best of luck- they can be scrappy little delinquents... let's hope he respects and appreciates the less aggressive tankmates.

Many of the fish are larger, but there are a couple of smaller goldfish in there that he could still harass. But it is a very large aquarium with lots of space and the Goldfish certainly aren't territorial so if you think it might work out I guess it's worth a shot. Anyone else have an opinion on Paradise with Goldfish?

Sorry...I don't know but I think the paradise would go for the goldfish...they can be rather aggressive fish. However, it could take the cool water.
