I have a Paradise Fish. He's active and healthy, but his colouration is often faded. His colours seem to flare up around feeding time, and I was wondering if there is any way to get the colours to stay like this. (I had a smaller Paradise Fish for about a week that was almost always colourful, but I think he was sick when I bought him, so he didn't live for very long...)

I believe he is less than a year old, so it is possible that he is too young. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

He may just be colored that way.

Or he may be stressed for some reason. Make sure your water parameters are good, that the current in the tank is not too strong, that he is not being harassed by other fish, etc. Not sure if too much light would stress him or not, but mine seems to like some plant cover.
