I bought this fish a few weeks back and it was sold to me as either a black or brown paradise fish (I can’t remember which), however, after looking up both I’m not sure. It sort of looks like a non-splenden betta, but if anybody knows what kind of fish this is I’d greatly appreciate any info.

Definitely not a betta. Tail ain't right for a paradise fish (black or brown..) could it be something more exotic like a dwarf climbing perch?

It doesn't look like any species of betta I can guess at. So I'm voting for paradise fish, I've never kept them...But the pointed anal & dorsal fin says male to me...What size is it? It could be an immature...of some species...

Looks like a Pseudosphromenus Dayi (Brown spiketail paradise fish) that isn't very happy. They really want to be in a small colony.
