Parasite??

My fish has been flashing and I know that is a sign of parasites and there is a red thing on him.

Any ideas what this is?

I tried to take a picture but all I can use is my cell phone because the lens on the digital won't retract. This is the best I could manage.

flashing can be a sign of many different things. there may be excess metals or minerals in the water, the fish may have external parasites, or the fish may just have an itch.

a "red thing" could also be a wound...

Right now all I have is a test for ammonia and ph. I did a water change yesterday and the water was fine when I tested it.

It looks like you got a red lifesaver crushed it, found a thin flake, stuck it on him.

It doesn't look like a scratch to me, unless it is infmaed or something. I think that area would just rip though. I guess he could of scratched himself on one of the plants the weather loaches uprooted. I use the fake ones with the plastic bases. The loaches have decided to uproot all of them and put them in the center of the tank.

I really wish I had a digital camra right now. Maybe tomorrow I will go out and buy the cheepest one I can find.
