They're not even close to water flea. I already said it that they do look like water boatmen and can be introduced via pond water where they are quite prominent.
What size are they and do they stay above the water, if they are tiny and stay above the water they may be a type of springtail, as the name suggests they hop quite high if they are disturbed. Anyway try a google for springtail, there are a great many species. If they are springtails they are nothing to worry about.
maybe there's some bugs breeding somwhere hidden in you house and breeding. They may be needing a new place to live. Kill them, they don't look like they should be there.
looks to be some species of 'waer' beetle.
is the item they are living on emmersed?
many 'water' beetles need air and lack the ability to 'breathe' under water..these beetles have adapted a method of trapping air in a bubble..some are captured under the shell. and they breath this trapped air(kind of similar to SCUBA).
there literally thousands of species of 'water' beetles. many are scavengers while others are predators. these appear to be a scavenger. as they don't appear to have the tools for predation.
I'm going with beetle myself on this one. I have a friend at work that is an "amateur" entemologist (if that's how its spelled). I'll send him the pics to see if he has an idea. Can you get a closer pic?

I don't have any pond water near my tanks or anything. I get my water from the tap.
No the item they were living on is out of the water, most of them were on top of it and a few like 5 were on the side working their way out of the water. It is a styrofoam feeding tray that floats, so half is in the water half is out.
Nope they don't seem similar to springtales.
They are so tiny I had my camera lense right up agains them and on the macro setting. One of them was no bigger then the size of almost like the sharp point of a needle. They were extremely tiny. Before i took the pictures i just thought they were food pellets, like fancy gupppy size food pellets.
Oh and I have already killed them yesterday, and treated for parasites with meds. So that has been taken care of however I found another and am trying to anaylze it some more....
Here are some more of the pictures I took...hope these are closer...
The First one was taken of them on a paper towel with the flash, so they look more golden in color.
Thank you all for your help so far! This really is a great forum!!!!:y220e:
Well they definitely are shaped like ticks. Is there such a thing as a aquatic tick? Either way, i wouldn't think twice about not killing it. It'd be dead and gone already! (You aren't a fish, you don't belong in my tank!) Sorry - bugs bother me when they're where they shouldn't be. LIKE OUTSIDE!!!
Yea, well they were killed immediatly after i took pics, which was like 2mins after i discovered them. So they've been dead. I then immediatly treated with parasite medication, and my fish have seemed fine, so w/e it is/was is not in my tank or in my fish. Hopefully it's gone, cause that's just disturbing!! I like had to clean everything, that just made me paranoid.
