parasites in my gourami, or something else?

add the suggested amount to a healthy tank, just as a precationary for a short amount of time?

you should never use chemicals as a "precaution" ... they don't work that way.
 
ok, so I put epsom salt in the tank and I've continued soaking his food with the medicine I have. He hasn't shown any pineconing yet, but it does seem like he is having a hard time staying near the surface, like maybe he has a swim bladder problem.
His poo has been stringy as well.
could it be a swim bladder problem or still the same diagnostis.
Oh yeah, I also keep him in a floating breeder container at night so he can rest and still be near the surface. but when he's not in it it seems like he has to swim awful hard to stay near the surface. when he's in it he just rests on the bottom.
