Being not at my brightest the other day I ended up purchaseing a paridisefish with a large white pimple on it's side. 'Twas from the big Al's storefront in Richmond BC, used to be quite good, but I suspect it's going downhill a bit.

The fish appears to be happy and healthy, and all water parameters are currently good on the tank he's in. Being a ways away from medication, I was wondering if anyone had exerienced a similar problem and new of ways to treat it.

Thanks!

Possibility #1: it has a dormant larval "grub" inside it that will not develop any further or cause further harm to any other fish. It's ultimate host would be a warm-blooded fish-eating bird, like a heron, perhaps. I

Possibility #2: it is a bacterial cyst. The fish's own immune system must suppress it. Melaleuca extract has its adherents. So does green tea.

(I eliminate Possibility #3, because you'd recognize Ich.)

Thanks! Think I might try the whole green tea thing after a little more research. Is it just added to the water enough to colour? Or is there a recommended timed dosage?

Definatly waaaaay to big and isolated to be ich. The worm seems relatively obvious. Should watch more National Geographic or Wild Kingdom ;)

Thanks! Looking forward to what others have to say.
