I have a community tank that I am wanting to do away with(a 55)I am wondering what can got with a parrot fish .Thanks for any help.:feedback:

Parrots can be hit or miss. Mine are very peaceful, and worked with the community tank while I had them in there. Some are more agressive. They DO get very territorial when spawning however, so just make sure you have a nice cave or something the female can guard her eggs. (Sadly, these hardly ever hatch, as 99% of male BP's are infertile)

I'm assuming he means Blood parrot, considering we are in the freshwater forum.

Ah, rereading his post I see he wants to do AWAY with his community and put in BP's. Well, in that case, any semi-agressive SA cichlid should be ok, like sevrums, firemouths, etc. Stay away from the super agressive species like JD, Green Terrors, and Oscars, since the BP can't really defend itself very well (can't close it's mouth)

yes the blood parrots I have 1 in my community tank now but I am wanting something else then the community, Thats why I am asking what else they can go with.

I also have a 120 gallon and I have a firemouth in there. I have a JD in with him and they get along great. Just wanting something else to go int with the parrot fish though

I also had my BP's in with a JD, and it was fine. However as the JD gets older, they usually get more agressive.
