I had posted a thread last week asking how hot can goldfish go in my pond. Alas, I can no longer find the thread to post my thanks to the many who took their time to research, impart their wisdom and reply. I am greatful. Again thank you.
I was waiting for a few days worth of numbers to report on what seems to be a partial solution to the hot weather. I will also post this on the pond forum as it may help other hot climate ponders.
My husband and I spent a good portion of the morning on Saturday putting up a makeshift misting system using a 16 nozel boxed hose line mister from Walmart. We tacked it onto a lattice piece and hung it directly over the pond. During the hottest part of the day it has reduced the temperature of the water in the pond by 4 - 6 degrees keeping it at a steady 82 - 84. Reducing the huge daytine warmup quite a bit despite the shade temp today being 112, yesterday 114. HOORAY.
