I have a 55 gallon planted tank and a eheim canister filter. I can't seem to keep the water free of floating and circulating particles. This is really starting to bug me. I have my suction tube on the back right corner and my spray bar shooting from right to left about a 1/2" below the water. Would another intake on the left side work? I feed only once a day. It seems to me that the intake just does not grab and pull the particles down to it. Any ideas or similar experiences, and what did you do?

What Eheim filter are you using? What kind of fish, and how many do you have? What is your maintanence routine? How long has the tank been running for? What color are these particles?

As far as I can tell now... it just seems to me that either:
1.) That one filter isn't enough
or
2.) Your regular maintanence routine isn't good enough.

Until we get more info on your part, its difficult to narrow down what the cause of your problem is.

It is a pro 2224. I do weekly water changes of about 25% or more
I have 4 angels
4corys
5 serpae tetraes
5 marble hatchets
7 harliquin rasboras
5 rummy nose tetraes
7 ottos
Tank has been running for two months
Fish seem happy and active
Particles are very small and generaly light in color
Again it seems to me like i am circulating the particles and picking up only, say 50% of the particles. Plants are doing fine. Algae is pretty normal, I mean I have some algae growing on the back glass but nothing serious. The canister filter should be enough I think. Being the tank is 4 feet long do you think a return on each end would be good?
