pc lighting

Swimfins

This is as good as it gets.
I received my jebo lighting unit today. Very nice and compact, and what's best is I can use it along with the 48 inch fluorescent strip that I got when the tank was given to me, since they both fit the top. So now I'll have a total of 260 watts of light. (66g 4 foot long tank)

Question: It came with 2 actinic 55 watt bulbs. I will replace them.
Should I replace the actinic with 2 x 10,000 color temp.
daylight bulbs or the 6,700 color temp bulbs?

Thanks.

Personally I'd mix the two, or go with 10 000K - I wouldn't do just 6700K. I prefer the look of higher K bulbs (I've got some 9325K PC on my tank right now and LOVE the colour).
I bought a new 10 000K bulb to replace the actinic in my new fixture (which hasn't arrived yet). It was recommended over the 6700Ks by the guy at the LFS - he said he much prefers the look of 10 000K, and that it's fine for plants.

Hi Blinky! So, this is better: 4 x 10,000 color temp. and the 40 watt fluroscent.

Rather than 2 x 6700. 2x 10,000, and the 40 watt? Ya think?

Its too bad about the actinic bulbs eh? Mebe we can have a garage sale now. :o

I'm torn - it may look nice if you mix the two, but my LFS said if I like the crispness of 9325K I'd like the 10 000Ks... he did say the plants won't care one bit, it's a matter of personal preference between those two.

As for the actinics, there must be loads of SW people out there who'll want 'em - I plan to sell mine on ebay :)

Congrats on the new fixture, BTW :D

What bulbs did it come with, besides the two acintics?

The 6500K lights will not be as crisp of a white as the 10K ones. Where did you get the fixture from? MOPS? Sounds like it will give you a really nice amount of light. Hope you have CO2 figured out.

Oh I see.....fish color. Tis true, they do look a little drab under all that light.

Captain, I got it on e-bay. Its a jebo unit with 2 x 10000 and 2 x blue actinic (to be replaced) I will add CO2, haven't got it figured out yet nope...

Still things to do before I plant it, like getting the new bulbs. I might even pick up one of those CARBO-PLUS machines.

Has anyone tried that? You just hang it on you tank, theres a strip of carbon in it, set the dosage, and off you go http://www.belowwater.com/products/carbo-plus/

And yes, I know if there are fishies in the tank you shouldn' turn off the co2, ph and all that.......
