I think if you try a mix of 10K's and bulbs in the 5500-6500K range you will be fine.

As for the Carbo-Plus, I've heard many suggest pressurized CO2 over them. The replacements are very expensive for the carbo-plus and I believe they are required quite frequently.

Pressurized CO2 really doesn't have to be that expensive. I got my 10 pound tank for $150 at a local fire extinguisher place, regulator from a beverage supply place for about $35, and a clippard needle valve for $20 from a friend of mine. www.tbaquascapes.com

His site is not up-to-date but his prices are reasonable. Send him an email if you're interested in anything.

For roughly $200 Canadian I have a decent CO2 setup. The best part is that refills are only $15-20 and could easily last 6 months.

one other thing, if you have friends in the restaurant business then you can most likely get your tanks for free...
I have 2 full dive tanks (size) of co2 that I got free and have been using for about 3 years now..

oh lots to think about..

Thanks Geoff Thanks captain. Thanks darkblade, Thanks Blinky. The tank has recently cycled. Now, it looks like I have ich...... My tetras have a bit of a salt covering. Yet the others look fine. I dunno. Yesterday I raised the temp gradually and added the salt.

I will review your opinons while I deal with this setback. Always something. :mad2

Its square pin. Japanese. Straight pin is German type. I can use any 55 watt 21 inch square pin bulb. I also like the fact that it doesn't get too hot. I ran it all day yesterday and its just warm to touch.... I was worried it would be hot without a fan, but its pretty nice. A good buy I'd say.
