Peaceful Betta

Not too surprising, aparently the wild ones aren't terribly aggressive with each other, the agression was bred into them as part of the whole fighting fish cuture, so not really surprising that it could be bred out of them.

Neat colouration on the tail fin too.

I was looking around some online fish stores and saw a peaceful betta for sale. It said "This is a peaceful betta, YES, even with each other!" here is the website. I would like to know what you think.

Hopefully Beeker comes around soon. She has been investigating these and has ordered some.

I wish I found that site. I spent much more money than that. Oh, well.

They are on their way but haven't arrived yet. So far I have my Sparkling Gouramis, aka Dwarf Croaking Gouramis, and my Kerri Tetras. They are so cute. I just finished acclimating them before I left for church and just finished feeding them now.

Betta Imbellis, yes, they sound wonderful. Betta Splendens, NO!

How many are you getting? and what size tank are you putting yours in? I think if they can get along in groups it would make a beautiful tank. :dance I am looking for more info on them on the web.

I am getting 3. I was told that I could fit them in a 10 gal. with 3 Sparkling Gouramis and 5 Kerri Tetras. I didn't know for sure if so many will work but the Gouramis are tiny and the Tetras are pretty small too. You can find more info on the species profile link here on Aquaria Central. That is where I first learned that such a Betta existed. When you look under "Peaceful Betta" there is a link for tankmates, check there and it will give you a list of fish that will co-exist with these Bettas. I also went on Australian Betta Forums and asked around there. Check for the links with my name and in the thread you should find replies with other links in it, at Australian Betta Forums.

Thanks. Maybe when I get my bigger tank I will get some. (If my current fish turn out to be tankmates)

Currently have:
5 Zebra danios
4 Mollies
1 platy
2 male guppies
3 cory cats
1 oto

They are in a 29 gallon tank

I'm not sure of the Mollies, Guppies, or Platy, but I know the others should work with an Imbellis.
Think about it. Or, you can get a second tank. I used my old 10 gal. tank that my Comets outgrew for this setup. (My Comets are now in a 75 gal tank) I used the Imbellis as my centerpiece and built around that one fish. So far things are working out beautifully.
