So Im planning a new malawi tank for once Im in my new home and I contacted Eddie http://www.bluegrasscichlids.com in regards to his peacock mix. I would be paying 4.00 a fish for a mix of 8-10 types of peacocks and getting a 50/50 mix of male to female. I was told and read that it would be best to have all males. Eddie agreed and said to cull the females and keep the males as they grow and color. I guess my main ? is has anybody ever worked with bluegrass cichlids.com before? And what is the best way to go about stocking my 75g. Eddie suggests 4 syndontis cats and a common pleco + 25 of the peacock mix for great color which is what I am after but then I will ony end up with 8-12 males. Any thoughts or suggestions.

Sounds correct from my experience, though I may not cull that heavy.

Yup, sounds like a good plan....cant wait for fotos..bet it will be really cool...:)

So how many females should I cull? Half maybe so I have 2:1 (male)...Ive been through this once and I accidentally palced a female or two in a tank wih 4 males and my Electric blue killed all bu one female and my pleco...

no experience with bluegrass cichlids.

An all male peacock tank will look great. Depending on personality/filtration/tank maintenance I think you can go more than 8 - 12 eventually.

over-filtered...well maintained...I'd think you could have at least 15 male aulonocara species in there...at least...

If I said I had culled in that context I would mean remove from the tank and relocate, as opposed to kill
