yeah i think the next time i clean my tank ill take him out and give to friend. Clearly hes not doing that great i would have gotten diffrent eel if the guy at the petstore hadnt told me he would reach larger size...hahaha...thats what i get for believing a guy at petsmart!

well your tank sounds way overstocked to me but if you want to feed this is what I've found to always work...

I get tubaflex worms and but them either in a beta bowl or a small clear water glass. I then fill the glass full of tank water and sink it to the bottom of the tank. The worms will stay in a clump in the glass.

The eels will go crazy... I also hand feed my eels nightcrawlers and ghost shrimp.
