I'm not really worried, either space-wise or bio-load wise. The lampeyes only get about an inch and a half ("lamp eye" seems to get attributed to multiple species), and many people have done peacock gudgeon's with other fish in a 10 gallon.
I have 4 in my 20 long. I did manage to get a pair from the 4 I bought. They have spawned 5 times, but the eggs keep getting eaten mby the kuhli loaches which are the only other fish in the tank. When I am able I plan to try and get a successful spawn. I started a thread a while back about it. Someone suggested if you have them in a community setting to make sure the PVC pipe has a cover on one end. Once the male kicks the female out, not much makes him leave. You can then pick up pipe, fish, eggs and all and place in a breeder tank. Then you can let the male hatch the eggs, once you have wigglers remove him and raise your fry. Mind you I haven't actually done this yet, but sounds good in theory!!! they are cool fish, but not extremely active and I find they hide a good bit., But very pretty.
*grump* Gotta wait a week. We were trying to figure out shipping, and since the seller and I both live on the east cost, we want to wait til after the snow, so they'll be shipped on Monday. Plenty of time to go grab some PVC and a cap, at least.
Can I just buy the PVC pieces at Home Depot or whatever? Would the caps be near them? Where do I look?

Thanks! Quick question- where'd you get the PVC? I'm going to go to Lowes, but from what I saw online they only have looong pieces, and I'm not sure what I'd cut it with.
hubby got mine i think at lowes, he went in to the dept where they have fittings it all ready short little pieces like threaded on both ends or so.So u don't have to cut it or anything just wash off and add to ur tank.this is my set up..I have the pair in a 5 gal at the time with a sponge filter and heater and a small wad of java moss the 2 pieces of pvc . i have taken the female out at times before but i left her the last time or 2.and she has not ate all the babies but to make sure to get 100% of fry u can move her to another tank after she has laid, make sure to turn ur pvc were u can see into it.after the fry start wiggleing move the male out to at about 6 days.i have been leaving them both in there the last time or 2.but i will have to move them to a grow out tank soon.i do water changes every week or two..and i guess they like my water i do nothing to it .its well water.i have a half grown one in my 30 gal with my guppies. so good luck and i hope this has helped.
