hey everyone

My Pearl Blue Gourami has been sitting under a rock for a very long time now. She won't even come out to eat. I might see her every once in awhile, but ever since i bought three German Blue Rams she hsant come out much. the Rams are all much smaller than the Gourami. Infact, the Gourami is the largest fish in the tank. MY water quality is good, becasue i monitor and change it frequently. I did drop the temperature a couple of degrees, but i dont think that would be the cause. About a month ago, she was very active, and now she's made a 180 degree turn. What can I do?

Water parameters would be good...I know that you say that they are fine, and I believe you, but the numbers could point us toward a disease which she may have.

My female pearl has always been a bit on the shy side of the coin and since I yanked the driftwood last week both pearls have spent most of their time hiding in the vegetation. These guys had always been front and center, but they've been the most shaken by the change of scenery (little redecoration going on).

I trust Wetman's knowledge and experience on these matters but in addition to your water chemistry and any other potential symptoms you might give us a description of the decor -- rocks, plant, driftwood? There is that old saw about seeing your fish more often when you provide them with enough hiding places.

Are you sure its a female? My experience with them has been a territorially aggressive male and a female that is genius at hiding and evading when confronted with said territorial aggression…

I had the same problem with a pearl gourami I got about a month and a half ago, I actually just noticed last night it was missing. (Probably died then the snails and tetras ate the evidence).
I don't know what to suggest to you, hiding at the bottom isn't right for a gourami.
