My Pearl Gourami seems to be developing large patches ( 1/4" ) that seem to oblitereate the nice scale patern, some are smaller. They look like healed wounds, but she is the Queen of the tank and I have never seeing her attacked. Maybe scrape patches from hitting the rock? Anyone else seeing this. She is eating well and swims around alot. Any thoughts would be appreciated... I might try and borrow a digital camera and post a pic, but not for now.

Thanks, I looked into that and it is not it, it is more on the body and are not symetrical. patches are lots of different sizes.....

hmmmmm.....

Interesting Development! The other night i was working about 10 feet from my tank it was after midnight and the lights were off in the tank and subdued in the room. I hear quite the splash and heard a rattle on the hood of my tank. I was like what the hell was that, looked over at my tank and all seemed normal in the low light.... Then again this morning before the lights were on I definetley heard the same noises. I am now thinking that the marks and scrapes are more likely wounds on my Gourami from jumping up into the hood! I have 3 Praecox Rainbow ( 1 female - 2" and 2-1" M/F), about 12 orange platies ( some are just small fry ) and 2 cardinal tetras and 6 ottos. it is a 30 gal tank that is very planted, with lots of hiding space. The gourami is a 3" Female. I would think only the rainbow would be doing anything, but I've had them in combo for years. The Gourami is fairly new to the tank 6months and was having problems with 2 territorial silver tip tetras... they went to the LFS for trade.

Is this common. During the day the gourami does not seem at all fazed by the other fish, will come to the glass to meet me and wag back and forth, she eats well and does not ever seemed bothered by the other fish, the rainbows tend to hang at the lower part of the farside of the tank from Gouramies world.

very weird IMO.

Thoughts.

With all this Pearl gourami talk i thoght I'd throw this back up top...
