Peat under substrate, what about ground fert. tabs?

Is there any benefit to adding a fine dusting of ground fert. tabs to the fine dusting of peat one usually adds before adding gravel? Seems the nutrients would be less likely to get pulled up into water column when replanting. But then, if it is finely ground (the tabs) then it would dissolve much quicker...?
Comments?

Don't get me started, at Christmas time, with that stuff!!!!!:)
Totally unnecessary and risky, IMO, in light of the fact that plant movement and change is such a big part of newly started tanks.
Please.......go with the peat.

....is he doing that to tick me off..........

No, honestly it was an honest question. If I had known it would get to you, I would have posted it multiple times!
This will be the 3rd re-start for me...I THINK I have it down to where I won't be moving any plants, other than uprooting the few stem plants which won't develop substantial roots between trimmings anyway. That's why I asked. :)

FYI ('cuz I know someone is thinking 'why the h3ll does he have to do it over AGAIN?'). 1st set-up I was working with unknown crypts that grew too tall for foreground, 2nd time was o.k. but I'm tired of all the stem plants plus have to break down tank to put in new carpet(good time to ditch the E.bleheri, 3rd will hopefully be a charm!

You can add KH2PO4 and KNO3 in there if you want, it'll just flux out after a few days. You can also add dried(or fresh and you should add fresh no matter what) mulm from another tank.

Mulm is the gunk you siphon off the bottom or the stuff that comes out of the filter when you squeeze out the filter pads/sponges.

'bevike' - you can't get a better start than the peat/mulm combo. Keep it simple and don't over-do it with extra nutrients that are (IMO) unnecessary.
Just my opinion...........

Well Bowes(2004), Barko(1981), Caragreen(2002) all separately have said that SAM's will take the nutrients from the water column first.
So your opinion is in good company........

I'm honored Tom. But I don't know any of those dudes. I learned that from you(as you know) and it's worked well for me. Just passing it on.
