pengiun mini filter pf99 - have any experiance with this filter?

I got two pengiun mini filter PF99 of from a yard sale and a ten gallon tank for 5 bucks.

I don't have any experiance with the Pf99s. they seem to be fine but I haven't used them before.

Anyone have any good/bad experiances with these brand and kind of filters?
I haven't seen them at the LFS so I am wondering if they are older filters.


I am planning on using on with some african dwarf frogs and some small fish and I am a bit concerned that the intake on the filter will pull in livestock, and damage them.

never used that one but penguins over all are good filters. would rather have a AC filter but since you already have it might as well use it.

I have a Penguin Mini 100 w/ biowheel. I don't know anything about the PF99's, but I'm quite happy with my 100. Quiet, and very effective.

If you're worried about the intake sucking up critters, just cut a slit in the top of a block of filter sponge and slip it over the intake (like a sock).
