i just got one for a 10 gallon tank even though its for a 30 gallon. is this bad? is this too much filtration? because the fish i have in there are going to produce alot of waste and i needed a new filter. i have 2 shubunkin goldfish in there but if they get to big my uncle has a pond for them.

You can never have too much filtration.....as long as the current isn't beyond what your fish will tolerate, I wouldn't worry about it.

it has a flow controller thing on it so i turned it down a little bit.

Chances are it wont create a whirlpool in your tank.

just wondering.... what does a whirlpool in a fishtank look like? is it just like a normal whirlpool anywhere else?

FYI :o , they probably won't get too big for your tank b/c their growth will be stunted and they won't be very healthy fish. It might be a good idea to let them go into the pond early next year, that way they'll have the whole summer to get used to their new home before it gets too cold out. Just my .02
