I'm planning to convince my dad to buy it, simply because the 2 filters he has on his 60 gallon tank sucks. Meanwhile after that, i plan to have 2 of them new filters setup on my dad's 60 gallon. I don't know if it's a good idea or not, but do you guys think it'll be a great idea?Ammonia and nitrates will definately vanish, right? That's good right?Does it grow weary and makes sound?I want a good deal, i dont want my dad to waste something that isnt going to last a while and easily breaks; If so, can you guys tell me whats a good great filter for a 60 gallon? I need some good answers~ Thanks guys!!!

been told biowheel do nothing for SW.

How much live rockwork is in the tank and how long has the tank been set up? A bio wheel will do the exact same thing a live sandbed and rockwork does for the tank. Also, how thick is the sand bed? Did you use live sand? What do you currently have for filtration?

2 big millenniums. My dad doesnt exactly have anything decorations for his tank, just plain ol water tank. Oh yeah, the tank has tropical fish. Doesn't have anything to do with saltwater fish.

ye posted wrong forum, Will have it moved :)

I have a 150 Penguin "one" bio wheel. I read a bunch of posts that made me think it wouldn't spin and i'd have to take it back but mines been great so long as you prime them right at the beginning fill it and have someone keep filling it while you turn it on, keep filling until it spins..
Mine is a bit wonky sounding now it is fuller it is just a quiet motion I hear if the tv is off and everything is extremely quiet (very rare) When it first ran I didnt' hear a thing.

I like it my water looks and has cycled great. There is another slot in it to which is great for another filter or carbon or whatever you need.

I guess I should edit this and add not necessarily for you but. If you are expecting to put it in a tank and not have to cycle because it will get rid of your ammonia on contact and nitrite that's completely false your tank will need to cycle like every other tank and go through the whole process depending on how you choose to cycle.

So if your dad's tank is already cycled and set up but has ammonia in it and other water perameter problems it may help a little but it wont solve the problem alone.

I see.

I have an older BW 125 and it was loud. I used it on a 10g so that may be the reason for the sound. I have a regular Penguin 170 on my 20g and the noise is minimal. The new Biowheels are supposed to be a lot quieter. Overall though, both worked well as filters. I think it's supposed to be one of the better ones out there.

I actually have the 200 but it's still in the box. Plan to use it for my 29g.

Instead of 2 200s, what about 1 350 (?) which is basically 2 200s. I think it would be cheaper.

Btw, I bought mine from Petsmart online. It was cheaper than in the store.

if you plan on getting one, go online to petsmart.com and print out the price of the one you want, then bring it in to the store. they will honor the online prices of their merchandise and you don't have to pay extra for shipping.
