Anyone use the Pen Plax Cascade 1000 canister filter? I notice that it moves a lot of water (265gph) for the price. How is the quality of this filter? I need it to be easy to service , reasonably quiet, and adequate for a 40 gallon tank.

i have been using one for over a year its very quiet does a great job and easy to clean. i also have 2 of the 700's never a problem.
I have had a cascade 1000 for almost a year. After 6 months I noticed it didn't have as much flow even after cleaning it. It does have some bypass so my water was never as crystal clear as I wanted it. It kept the tank clean though. I got an ehiem and I use the casade as a second filter and it does great.
So you prefer the Eheim over the Cascade? I thought about getting the eheim 2213 but I'm assuming the cascade 1000 would be more effective in a 40 gallon.
It's also much pricier however. I actually ordered the smaller eheim 2213 but it is on back order and I'm thinking the larger cascade 1000 may be better for my 40 gallon.
