Peppermint Shrimp Question

Pardon the lack of knowledge here, but why would you want to kill the aiptasia? The pics that I can find they look nice to have, are they poisonous or carnivorous?

They spread like wildfire, and sting other coral life that is desirable (and better looking).

They sting everything and become a plague. Really nasty. You can end up with thousands of them. No fish can even touch bottom then.

There is a disadvantage to having peppermints though. They aren't really picky about the difference between aiptasia and zoa's or paly's so if you plan on adding those down the road you'll likely find the peppermints will go for those as well.[/quote]

they would be less likely to if they got fed right

Yes, less likely but there is still a risk involved which, in my opinion, is big enough to warrant concern if you have a lot invested.
