i currently have a pair of perlmutts in with a few demasoni. lately ive noticed that both a demasoni and a perlmutt are holding. I assume its possible that they can crossbreed seeing as how they have similar patterns although the color is much different but is this very likely because i dont want to take chances on them crossbreeding.

Hmmmm... very unlikely they will crossbreed. Most likely they just bred within thier own species. What size is the tank?
I keep both species (not together, I admit) and I doubt they would crossbreed. Possible, I suppose, but unlikely. It woudl be pretty apparent as the fry grew, in any case.

I ask because of aggression issues, i think eventually separating them will be a good idea.
