I was wondering all day about that myself...good to know because I had to do 2 wc on a 310ltr tank yesterday-ammonia spike...wondered if the water would be too fresh.
in an established tank, the majority of the bacteria live on surfaces... so, any decor you may have... substrate, if you have it, filter media, etc. not the actual water column. so the amount of your water change should not cause a mini cycle.
yea i wasnt talking about that... i was talking about the fact that you are going to be starving the bacteria of "food" therefore making them die off rapidly... therefore creating a mini cycle but i think star rider answered the question sufficiently ...??
