PETA Billboard Outrage: Fat Women = Beached Whales

I am surprised that this thread is still going.

how about this:
If you dont like looking at it, dont look at it.
If the TV show offends you, turn it off.
If the DJ on the radio is annoying, change the channel.

Its still going because people are enjoying the discussion / debate....and it shall continue...

I'm overweight and I do not eat meat on a regular basis. However, I still enjoy the heck out of a delicious steak!

If anything it's because I am a poor eater (too many carbs) with little activity to use that energy...PETA skews the truth to gain support and then turn around and go against their own philosophy.

Just thought you should know...

The billboard was replaced by more lies. Its ridiculous.

im sorry....i thought i was able to comment openly bout things on the board. When i left work on friday i honestly expected to show up to work on monday and not see the thread as active anymore. ill try to keep my commentary to myself next time.

In the early years of it's formation, I actually thought that PETA had good ideas. When they started taking it to extremes I was annoyed at first. It then became such a vile and polarizing political stance that it was mind-numbing. They have now gone on to being a fanatical group full of their own excess'. What started as a good idea is now so far from center of reality that the line doesn't even extend that far. IOW - they are way off the charts (so to speak). They have actually become their own worst enemy as I see it.

I agree...just my opinion but PETA only appeals to a specific type of mindset (take that how you want to) and then alienates anyone who has opposing views. Like any extremist group they do just enough to stay alive so to speak. Their own tactics keep their influence from spreading...thank god...

So, you're suggesting that because we think an organization is outright lying to people we should just say "Oh well" and let them?

When someone lies to you and takes your money it's called fraud, and it's illegal. When PETA does it, it's suddenly ok?

I did not read 7 pages of this pro-peta, anti peta thread. but F PETA. they twist everything, they are not doctors or nutritionists so they should stfu.

on topic of the billboard, it's wasn't slightly offensive to me, because we do as a young californian born with good looks (im just stereotyping), like to associate fat people with whales. i didn't even put 1 and 1 together with the meat eating until listening to the sound bite. thats so much bull that peta rep was spewing. what pissed me off was that what they were trying to say by not eating meat will save animals... We raise what we eat, its not like farms like to collect bull****.

if you want to know a little bit about PETA terrorism, or who they support to do terrorism in your backyards, watch penn & teller: bull****, "peta". f'n nazi's. i love my dog.

Vegetarians and vegans need to admit that they do what they do because of their personal feelings about animals and not for any supposed health benefits. Anyone familiar with comparative morphology can see we are not a vegetarian species. Our teeth and digestive systems are all wrong, and then there's the fact that vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient which we are not capable of synthesizing. We didn't evolve in an environment with synthesized vitamins and man-made yeast strains.
