PETA ends campaign against Petco

Do you really think PETA wants Anna Nicole Smith as a spokesperson? She's a little out there and recently at some awards show she was so not sober it wasn't even funny.

Perfect spokesperson for a perfect organization. With any luck she'll accidentally drink some of the anti freeze they put out in the fields for hunters bird dogs to drink. Why anyone gives that ______ any airtime is beyond me.

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGH!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGH!!!!!!!

I can only think of two reasons :D

wow.. Petco bends for a small group of people. What is peta in comparison to the country. If I were petco, of course I'm way too evil, I'd start selling borderline Endangered species. We should start a non-profit group saying their fish prices and aquarium prices are too high and Strike Petco. Same concept. Ethicly wrong to gouge us on prices... Its too early to rant, so I'm just going to have to come back later.

They really don't put anti-freeze out for dogs to drink, that person is joking or has the wrong group!! And small group of people or not, they have made alot of noise and Petco simply doesn't want the bad PR, or the groups of folks who protest outside their stores across the country!!! I'm with the other post, I think they are very extreme, but they get noticed and draw attention to some really good issues (animal abuse, fur farms, etc.) alot of people don't know how bad some of these things really are and it gets them noticed.

This really is the issue in the end. Same reason that stupid lady got away with suing McD's over the hot coffee. The company didn't want the bad PR so they settled. Sadly it resulted in someone who Darwin should have selected out ending up with plenty of money to pass on her incompetence to future generations, but now I'm :OT: aren't I?

My darling Happy, I researched that lady and McDonald's lawsuit a while back (Wish I still had the links) because I felt the same way you did. But in all honesty, the suit was legit.

1. That McDonalds had several complaints that their coffee was too hot, going over the max temp limit. Even the health department got on them about it. But they never turned it down.

2. That woman wasn't even driving, she was the passanger. The car wasn't even moving. She opened the lid to add cream and the cup was too full. It spilled out on her and gave some serious burns.

3. They had to graph skin from her buttocks to replace the damaged skin from the coffee burn. That's how bad those burns were.

Sorry, but I support her decision, especially considering that particular McDonald's didn't even listen to the health department and complaints they were getting. Maybe the money amount was ridiculous, but a lawsuit was called for.

Sorry for the hi-jack.

Indeed. Also, the jury cut her settlement in half because they concluded that she was partly at fault.

Well, I'm glad for that. The amount her lawyer was asking for was ... can't even say the word here!

;)
