Petco Malaysian Driftwood Warning!

Most of the pieces I've seen with slate bottoms to hold them down were screwed through the bottom of the slate into the wood. If they use steel "deck" type screws or even low grade stainless, then just cover the heads with silicone before putting them in the tank. I would only really be worried if they used galvanized steel, since that stuff has a tendency to flake/peel off.

Rusty screws = iron = non-toxic. I wouldn't worry about a couple partially exposed screws one bit. Plants would even dig it. Only issue is if the threads decay and your deco falls apart.

Galvy = zinc, Brass = copper; those would be something more to worry about depending on what's in your tank.

alright this is the plan:Get the half wooden thing of each size and say this in the future, "This are the last remaining of the kind from Petco."
