Petco or Petsmart?

This is a really well thought out idea. I will ask some busy employee to stay on the phone for a while and list the prices for everything in their freezer. Great idea!

That was a really well thought out reply to a good idea. ...oh wait, my mistake, it was a a poorly thought out, quick to dismiss, snide, sarcastic response to a very good idea.

I'm assuming that you've never worked in retail or customer service. Retail stores are in the business of selling things to customers to make a profit. If a customer has a question which when answered may lead to a sale, or in the case of pet food, potential repeated sales, it is beneficial to them to answer your question, whether over the phone, or in person. Those $5 sales based on good customer service add up to a ton of money when you consider all the different people buying them, and all the different locations getting those sales, especially if they're taking them from a competing pet store. These sales often lead to the sales of other items as well, bringing in even more money.

If your issue is not wanting to bother an employee to do the job that they are paid and trained to do, just go to each store and price them yourself. No one here, unless they live in your area and shop at the same locations, will be able to give you accurate prices for the items at your local chain stores. Even the websites for both companies specifically state that in-store prices may differ.

We've offered you options and tried to help answer your question as best we can (considering you want an answer that's impossible for anyone here to give accurately), and you've chosen to spit in the faces of those kind enough to try and help. I'm curious as to just how long you expect people to continue bothering to offer help if that's how you're going to treat them when they do. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go reply to the "Does This Annoy You" thread...

That is called Customer Service it is what they are paid to do.. You wont call the store "to bother busy employees" yet you will post here to get people to do your leg work for you.. hmmmm

yes thats their job.... yet you expect everyone here to memorize their prices? figure out the 2-3 items you want and ask the price.
Yes, I expect every here to memorize their prices. That is EXACTLY why I posted this. I didn't post this so I could see if anyone buys these things frequently and actually had some general idea of which place is usually cheaper. And you must love annoying employees there but I don't. Hence, I'm not asking them to leave the office where they answer the phone, go gather or sort through a bunch of frozen items in different sizes, come back to the phone/or call me back, and then tell me all their prices. They don't get paid enough to do that. They're not my slaves just because I might shop at their store.

so you ask a question, and then get mad at the obvious answer? Have you tried going into the actual stores?
No, I get mad at smart aleck answers that were designed to be derisive. That was not a obvious, or any other kind of answer to my question. No one forced him to click into this thread, read my question and certainly no one forced him to post when he doesn't know the answer.

You could try actually going in physical world, though that is passe.

Another gem of an idea! I can waste gas going to both places and then probably have to go back to the cheapest one if I happen to be at the other one. Could I maybe have asked this question to avoid that in the first place??

So instead maybe someone will have the list pf all products and recent prices at both stores who doesn't even work there?
Yet again, that is EXACTLY what I expected. I so obviously wanted some one who doesn't work there to list all the prices of all their different types and sizes. ESPECIALLY since I asked which store is generally cheaper, not for a list of their stock and prices. Could you please go to your local Petsmarts and Petcos, or preferably travel all the ways to mine, and do this for me? I also expect the answers to be hand delivered and laminated.

Hmm... So I can't answer in kind? It's only okay for you guys to do it, I guess. I should just sit here after having asked a very simple and reasonable question and not take exception to all the irrelevant nonsense that I have to sort through to gleam the few helpful answers.

Thank you to the following people for real answers that both addressed my question and provided helpful suggestions:

Since this thread has been such a waste of my time, except for when the people listed above answered, I'm going to unsubscribe from my own thread. I think I'll be looking for a new forum too since this one has the same people, over and over, trying to start these internet fights that they seem to get off on. Sick and sad, but true.

You obviously have never actually gone in to a store then. What gave you the idea you were talking to a person in an office? Go into the store, walk up to the cash register, notice the phone next to it. That is often the person answering the phone, the cashier. If they can't leave the register they'll transfer you to the fish section. That stand in the center of the fish section where the employee bags up fish, it has a phone. That is the fish section. It doesn't matter if they arn't payed enough. Their job is to help customers in the fish section (actually their job is to help customers in general, but they are focused on the fish section).

This isn't about starting fights. Come on, you started a thread stating how annoying you found it when people wasted everyones time asking questions that were answered if the person did their own homework. You went through the trouble of writing up a post and creating a new thread complaining about this type of thing. Now you are going to start getting upset when people call you out on doing the same thing? Running away isn't going to help. You would be better off learning why your threads sometimes end this way. I'll give you a hint to get started, read you original post, then read what you generally state your intent was later on when things get unpleasant. They arn't the same thing at all.

Ks...as others have gone, so has this.....
