Petco workers fault?

Sorry...it's always the buyers fault. You let him or didn't demand separate bags for the fish. And if you can't positively ID the fish not assume the attendant is giving you the right advice. You are ultimately responsible.

It should have been you demand a separate bag.

I work at a different Box pet store. It could have been a sick fish to begin with. My store only puts same species in bags together (i.e. if you're buying Mollies, they are in 1 bag, Cories in another)... You may only have up to 14 days, so I would go back and ask to speak to the manager.

As bad as it pains me to say this and it is a great pain but I agree with Bob here.

Take the fish back and explain the situation to a manager. I would be just as upset if this happened to me.

I used to work at one of these box stores and I had a customer get upset that I followed the return policy and politely instructed her on what the correct policy was. The result, I was written up due to a customer complaint. Even though I did everything right, the manage had no choice but to punish the employee due to the comment of the customer.
