You guys should double check this or address it with management.
It might be a state/city thing but my receipt reads as such:
55g - $55
6.0000% sales tax - $3.30
Total - $58.30
And in my opinion those hoods are such a useless ripoff. They give you hardly enough light at all, cost a lot, and make you lose the three dimensional beauty you can get with a glass canopy.
If you plan to ever keep plants, you'll be getting rid of it anyway.
Say you want to get light into a 55g with standard hood:
Runs you around 70-80 bucks and gets you all of 40w.
Glass canopies for the fifty will run about 20-30 bucks for the pair, and then say you put one of those nice sleek Coralife T5 fixtures for 50 bucks: http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsU...7/cl0/coralifefwt5aqualightdoublestriplight48
Now you have 56 watts of T5 light, (which is a little more intense than T12) three dimensional visibility and loads of space to add more lights if you decide to for the same price as the hood(s). Or maybe you could get it all even cheaper if you shop around, buy from ebay, craigslist, etc.
You could even do what i did - buy a $20 shoplite at Lowe's and get 80w of light.
Hoods are lame in my opinion. They deny me a good top view, they're a pain to clean, limit your lighting possibilities, and cost too much money for what they provide. I love my glass tops and I refuse to use anything else.
