petsmart GBRs

Since when did Petsmart start carrying German Blue Rams???

Went into petsmart today looked around and over in the cichlid section were some german blue rams they had just received a few days ago they said so i picked up a male and female. Im so glad they carry my fav fish now.

What?! I will have to check to see if mine is doing the same thing when I go in to get crickets tomorrow.

I know the manager of one of the local petsmarts here, and many times they get in what they call "opportunity" fish. The petsmart I go to has had things as cool as ornate bichirs in. I don't think any chain pet store should carry any fish that get above 12" to be honest. But the eithics and morals stores and their employs have is a whole different subject to talk about.

I heard they have EBJD's also, at least at some stores. I don't think I'd throw down any serious money for GBRs or EBJDs from them though.

they do get better fish in from time to time.

We had them at mine once. They were $3-4ish and two were dead in the bag they arrived in New to my local petdumb this week were rummynose, roseline sharks, dwarf neon rainbows, OB zebras (I bought the largest female ), and some jacob something peacock cichlid.

My Petsmart had rubber-lipped plecos recently.

I agree somewhat. I don't think stores should be allowed to carry fish that get too big to be properly housed in the biggest tank they sell. Walmart sells koi and oscars.

I went to Petsmart yesterday and they had EBJD's. When did this happen?!?!? LOL
I do have a hard time not getting some bichirs though - they're so cute at 3 inches!! But, I showed a little self-restraint and bought 2 female bettas and a male crowntail betta (@ $2 each) instead.

I agree about the bichirs. My petsmart puts them right below the angels and rubber lips but then you look and there are 4 5" pacus swimming around in a 5g. Ew.

A newish policy is 5 'new' fish a month for many of the stores. Next month it will be 5 different ones in addition to the usual stock.

ahhhhh! I went in today, and they had them last month. I don't know how I missed it otherwise I would have picked up a few. They are some of my favorite small cichlids!
