Petsmart Matching Prices WoW!

Last week, I bought a can of food for $15.00 at a LFS..But I did not know about Petsmart low price match and I could have got it for $9.50 at Petsmart if I brought a print out....I know it is only a saving of $5.00 but hey I can buy another fish at that price, lol..

I'm surprised that more people don't know about this. I mean its posted all over the store. When people that seem like they're really interested in learning about proper fish care and don't mind spending the money needed to properly care for their fish I 1.send them to aquaria central and 2.tell them to about our online price match. I don't like doing it at the store that I work at, but I went to another petsmart nearly 30 mins away and got my test kit for $13.49 instead of $28.99. The manager was a little rude about it though. While paying for my test kit, I showed him a page I had printed out for the HOT magnum pro filter and asked if they ever had them in stock because I could never find them. He looked at me and said, "I'm not gonna tell ya if you're going to do this again." He may have just been kidding but I was still shocked that he would talk to a customer like that.

how come you had to go to another store? you can't get that discount if you're an employee?

edit: nevermind, I missed the part where she said she doesn't like doing it where she works. I would think that would be LESS embarassing than going to another store?

I hope I don't get a rude manager, either. I want to try this, but haven't had the guts to yet...

The manager has the responsiblity of having profits so I can understand his anger..I hope I dont run into some rude people about the price match..

Plah, I can get the discount, I just don't like to do it at the store that I work at. I don't want to get on my managers bad side, you know? I didn't use my associate discount with this purchase though, I know that if I had done that, he really would have hated me. I basically just didn't want them to know that I'm a Petsmart employee while cheating them out of nearly 50% of their profit.

EDIT: this is sorta like telephone tag...or not...but sorta... anways, I was posting this when you were posting that so I didn't see your post. Its actually less embarassing somewhere where you are unknown, for me at least. And I'd rather not have my boss look at me and think "I lost profit because of her" everytime I'm working.

Watermelon, your name makes me hungry lol. You shouldn't have any problems getting your discount. According to the cashier that rung up my purchase, he wasn't that great of a guy and it was nearly closing time so he was probably ready to go home.

im wondering why the store price is so high in the first place. and each item i got was the last one in stock, so is it because they're not big sellers or maybe the store just tries to get over on u. dont know but i like savin money :thm:

Well, the store has lots of expenses that the online stores do not.... like expensive retail space compared to a warehouse or basement space, staff to pay to wait on customers, displays etc. It's probably part of the reason so many small stores are going out of business. I like a deal too and shop online at times but I can easily see how a retail store just can't always match an online price and like to support my local shops of all kinds when I can although it's not always possible.

I printed out a page for an aqua clear 150, not sure what the price is at my local Petsmart, but I'm gonna pick one up today, I'll let ya know if I got a deal or not.
My whisper 10 just isn't cutting it.

I picked up the filter today. The shelf price was 29.99. the online price was 17.99. I saved twelve bucks!! And no hassle. :D

I've done this so often that cashier was shocked I didn't have a print-out the other day....
