Petsmart Vs Petco

I bought another Tiger Barb, but this time from Petsmart. I put it in, first one DOA. Take it back, get another one, it lives...but it's VERY dull in color.

My other tiger barbs are VERY dark, very bright on colors and look VERY healthy.

If I feed the one from petsmart with tetracolor and keep it living will it get those same colors?

Looks like an albino tiger barb without red eyes

it could be from the stress from the move.

that said, IMO the stock from Pesmart is higher quality than the stock at Petco.

Complete opposite here. The Petco ones have deep, very nice colors, and the petsmart ones aren't very colorful. I'd say color can determine health.

I don't know about quality differences. I know I can always tell when either of my Oscars are feeling stressed as the colors fade (wash-out) but it never lasts long. I don't know what JRR did to these guys but they are spoiled! If I don't spend time with them everyday they get all moody or stressed.

I only have 1 petsmart here, no petco or any other big pet store. I like my LFS's fish better.

Petsmart's are much better for fish here than any Petco.

It really depends on the manager of the store. I have 3 Petco's, 4 Petsmarts, and 5 LFS within 10 miles of my house. There is a huge difference between them all. 3 of the LFS are great and 2 are horrible. 2 of the Petsmarts have excellent stock while the other 2 are an excellent examples of fish disease. 1 of the Petco has healthy looking stock while the other 2 kill more fish than they sell.

i like my petsmart over my petco, they have better employees. guess its just up to chance...

I vote for Petsmart..
but my petco isnt terrible...
