ph drop after large water change?

I just took a tupperwear container with tank water in it and taped it to an orbital sander to aggitate it. If that doesnt get the co2 out then nothing will lol

thanks for that article...really good reading

very good information

now I understand why my pH keeps dropping so hard

and LOL @ orbital sander

Well the orbital sander worked. I had my test tube with un-agitated tank water as a constant and the tupperwear container with the agitated tank water as the variable. The water in the tube tested 6.6 and the water from the container tested 7.0. I kept the water on the orbital sander for a total of 5 minutes and the water in the test tube was out for roughly 1hr. It isnt a huge breakthrough, but i get excited over little **** so im pretty stocked lol

Wouldn't be easier just to shake it up by hand?
lol?

Most likely. Im just the type of person whos always tinkering with stuff. It makes boring tasks like this a little more enjoyable lol

BTW-Are there any good fish stores up in Raleigh? I live outside of Greensboro and there really isnt anything around here. Aquamains used to be good, but have gone downhill over the last 5 years or so. It might be worth the hour drive up there if theres some good places for fish a plants.

Freshwater stores are becoming a rarity around here but there are a few along with your big chain stores like Petsmart, etc.
There are several very nice saltwater/reef stores in the area, however.

Well my problem is back. I ckecked it again this morning and its dropped back down to 6.4-6.5. Im gonna put some Granite rocks in there to raise it a little naturally, but i know it wont raise it that much. So, as much as i hate to do it, ill probably end up getting some sort of chemical to raise it a little. I hate adding chemicals to my tank...hell it took me a year to break down and buy a bottle of excel. Any suggestions on ways i can raise the ph without chemicals...and if i do have to use them, which one is best?
