Recently my water company changed something with the water supply and now our water is much softer than it used to be. This caused a massive pH drop in my goldfish tank (the only one I didn't have crushed coral in, which seemed to buffer the problem in my other tanks). It dropped below 6.0 at one point, and used to be a steady 7.6 before that. In the course of this my biological filter crashed and I had to go through cycling again.
I did massive daily water changes during this and added crushed coral to the gravel to buffer the soft water, and now my pH is steadily 7.4 and I again have a fully cycled filter.
However, my black moor now has a droopy dorsal fin, it rarely raises it whereas before it kept it upright most of the time. Will the moor go back to normal or is this a sign of permanent damage from ammonia and nitrites? The red & white ryukin appears to be fine and still holds its dorsal fin upright.
It's a 30 gallon tank.
