I have heard that drift wood could do that,but i ve used other d.w with no problem,,the p h out of the faucet is 6.5 not high enough for my fish.........

it's perfect for your pink gourami. it's not good for your african cichlids. these species are incompatible ... you shouldn't have them in the same tank. what's the kH of your water out of the tap?

i wouldnt add ph up for starters. i dont think you should be messing with your water but baking soda would be a better way.
