Hello dear members

i am a new member hear, i have a planted aquarium,
a carpet as a fertilizer,
120 ltr of tap water,
60w 10000 k & 40w 6500 k,
pH
controller, co2 kit and a
UV Sterilizer
tow discus and about another 40 different tetras,

i have 2 questions please,
1- How to control the ph,kh and gh

2- is it ok to keep the co2 running at night because if i stop it after turning the lights off the ph raises from 6.8 to 7.8 at midnight, 8.4 at morning, and the plants needs a stabled ph all the time. what shall i do

Moving this over to the planted forums for you...

If your kH is over 2 and your gH is over two in your tap water, you only need to do water changes to maintain them. The pH of water fluctuates with the addition of CO2, as you've discovered. This daily fluctuation will have no effect on plants or fish. You can leave your co2 on given adequate O2 levels but it really isn't necessary.

Hope this helps.

1) If you have over 40 fish plus two discus in that tank (30 gallons right?) I think you have it overstocked.
2) I would lose the 10,000k light and do another 6,500k
3) What do you want the ph to be? Are you treating your tap with anything like prime?
4) Turn the co2 off at night otherwise you are just wasting it. The plants will be just fine. What are you using for co2?

Can you post pics?

1) I agree.
2) I have a 6500K and a 10000K combo. A 6500K only light is too yellow for my taste.
3) No comment
4) Agreed---Turn CO2 off at night. The PH fluctuation from CO2 is not a concern.

Mr. Canuck, thanks for being care, trying to help me find where am i going to.
1- i didn't understand what do you mean by (kH is over 2 and gH is over two in my tap water. 2 of what??? and how do i measure this.
i know some thing like Tds in water. i changed 30% of the aquarium water with 10 gallons of filtered water 130 Tds.
2- i will stop the waste of Co2 at night.

i appreciate your effort in helping others

A lot of thanks to all of you Mr. Canuck,:) Mr.BoCoMo,:) Mr. tanker,:)

i know some thing like Tds in water. i don't have any way of treating my tap water, so i changed 30% of the aquarium water which was from the tap with 10 gallons of pure drinking water, Tds level is 130.
2- i have ph controller fixed to stop co2 when the ph is 6.85 , but now i will stop the waste of Co2 at night.
3- i uploaded an old pic which was taken 5 weeks ago, it's nearly the same as now but with less plants, because i lost the ones at the front. but you will notice from the pic that my fish is from small sizes.
