Okay I would like a natural way to buffer or raise the pH in my tank a little, right now it is at 7.8 and I would like to raise it 8.4. I a trying to keep as many chemicals out of this tank as possible, more natural methods are being used.

I think more info like water change schedual, products used etc... will be important to answer this.

Okay, well I am doing a water change of 40% tomorrow, my tank has finished its cycle, its a 55g. I have not used any chemicals this is a Mother Nature tank, with a little help like protein skimmer and powerheads.

So this is the first major water change you have done? Are there fish in it or other living beasts? I would find out the pH of your change water compared to the tank. The salt mixes sold should buffer thinsg up to mid 8's. If that is the case in your change water a large 40% change may be a big shock to the tank. You might want to consider a couple of smaller changes. Sounds like the pH just started heading south due to the cycling process. The buffer will get used up by the bacteria in the system which will cause the pH to drop.

What is the SG of the tank. And what is the pH and SG of the change water you will be using.

the salinity is between 1.026-1.027, and the pH is now 7.8. the salinity of the water that I will be using will be 1.024-1.025 and the ph is 6.2 its distilled water that I will be mixing.

What kind of salt mix are you using?
