Old Tank syndrome

The big question is what is your KH, What is your Maintenance routine, and what else is in the tank that mioght cause a pH drop. OTS (see article above) is fairly common, and Columbus water is pretty soft to begin with so it wouldn't take much to create that situation.

The tank is only about 2 months old.....

My reutine is 25% water change every week......

The only thing that i have added to the tank since the last water change is one male betta, and recently, ten teaspoons of salt (it is a 10 gallon tank) to help cure a slight fungal infection another fish in the tank.

There is one swordtail, one platy, and a betta in the tank....

the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate are fine, and the hardness is at about 120 on my other test kit.

The two things that are low are the "buffering capacity/alkalinity" and the PH. They are both off the charts on the low side....

any help?

how about one o fthose tablets that you put in your tank and slowly dissolves until your ph is at 7????

is that a good thing to use in a senario like this?
