My lights have just burnt out receantly and I didn't want to spend an insane amount of money on two more so I went down to HomeDepot to find replacements.

I found some that Phillip's make that are 15 watts for 18inches and the tittle reads "Natural Sunshine" and is said to give off the same spectrum of lgiht that the sun gives off. It was cheaper to boot, only $7 each.

I was just wondering has anyone had experience with them or if this works for aquariums?

I have used those bulbs before and didn't like them as much as the "Daylight Deluxe" ones. The ones you have are 5000K if I remember right and the DD's are 6500K. Both should work I think but the DD's are also a bit cheaper.

I have had good success with beluxe daylight and natural sunshine, I have had a tough time finding the smaller bulbs in deluxe daylight as well. the 48" are everywhere. I also use the Plant and aquarium bulbs which are very pink, but my plants respond well to them. On any tank with more than one bulb I put the P&A's in the back and then stick either a DD or a nat. sunlight in front to kill the pink look. Even in my 31" high tank the plants pearl well and grow well clear to the bottom.

if i only had that kind of luck on the hoods choice. mine are side by side b/c my first time was buying both those bulbs too but unfortanately I ended up with redish pink on one side and a blueish light on the other. It looked like mmy tank was dividing heaven and hell ;) .
