"Phos-x" any good?

When you treated for ich, you did treat for 3-5 days after the last spot vanished right? Personally I am against using any ion exchange resin in the tank unless you have an emergency. I count an emergency as severe ammonia poisoning and the source water contains chloramines preventing you from bringing the ammonia to 0. Then go ahead with using an ammonia absorbing resin to get the ammonia back to safe levels. To answer your question, I've never used any phosphate absorbing resin. If you are having algae problems already something else is amiss. Either you are overfeeding, overstocked or your lights are kept on too long. If this is a fish only tank, I reccomend you leave the lights off unless you are in the room viewing the tank or have guests over. The fish won't mind having the ambient room light only (that is what they are used to in nature anyways). If it is a planted tank then make sure you keep the lights on for 12 hours maximum.
