Photos from the creek- New minnow trap

Where did you buy the trap and how much was it? If you dont mind me asking.

Like Zig said, both the solid and collapsing traps are pretty easy to get.
I got both of mine on Ebay. I think the solid traps were like 20$ for 6 of them, and the collapsing trap was around 10$ for one. Check out pretty much any sporting goods store, like Cabelas, Dicks, Gander Mnt, and you should be able to pick some up cheap. They are a lot of fun, just make sure you are careful with them. If they get lost, they act as little black holes. Animals get trapped in them, die, attracting scavengers which get trapped, die, etc etc etc. Also, the larger collapsing traps have big openings. I have caught turtles in those! So try not to leave them out more than 24 hours, or, if they are set in a place you know has lots of turtles, snakes, and the like, tie them up so there is a gap of air at the top. :)

so what do you plan to do with the catches you make??

I abhor seafood. I would love to say it is for some ecologically conscientious reason, but I just hate the taste. So I have no interest in eating what I catch, or using it to catch bigger things to eat.
I just enjoy catching organisms, identifying them, and releasing them back. I could do a population study if I wanted to, which involves clipping the fins of fish. But I really just enjoy the hands-on approach of ID, and actually getting to touch and see up close an animal that is normally out of my reach. It gives me an appreciation for the diversity and beauty of the animals in my neighborhood.
