My planted 29. It has been a work in progress from having fake castle type ornaments to finally going to all natural planted. I like it much better this way. I just added three little panda cories the other day...they've really added to the activity and interest in this tank. I just love it !

I still need to add some more plants to back left of the tank. I'm going to get a 65 watt compact flourescent for this tank...right now it just has two 20watt flourescent bulbs.

There are a juvenile pair of german blue rams in the fry box on the left and a very fiesty golden female betta on the right. She's temporarily homeless and too aggressive for the fish in this tank, so she's "bowled" for now, poor thing. The whole list of occupants are:

2 neon dwarf gourami
1 bonded pair of german blue rams
1 juvenile pair of german blue rams
4 otocinclus (which I NEVER see !)
3 panda cories
I don't think I should count the female betta, since she's not "technically" in the tank...lol...

Nice tank Emg, I like the light colour, what kelvin is it? It looks like 5500k.

Actually, it's a 2800K and a 4200K. I'm going to be purchasing a 6700K 65watt compact flourescent light for this tank shortly though. It only has 40watts total over it and I dont' think it's enough for the plants, though they don't seem to be doing too awfully bad....but I do have an aponogeten in the back left corner that doesn't look very happy.

I'm a little concerned about what'll happen to the balance when I introduce the new light. I just got this tank settled and the water is nice and clear...lol...but I do want my plants to be happy.

Sometimes the change in kelvin will instigate an algae bloom, but if you change the bulbs one by one leaving about a week inbetween then you might be ok. Some people say to run your new bulbs for a couple of days before using them, b/c new bulbs always put out a higher K rating for the first days of their life.

I will have to get a whole new fixture to get the 65watts/6700K I want to have for this tank. The fixture I have now is a regular flourescent dual light fixture...the one I'm getting is a compact fixture.

Thanks for the suggestion to let it run a day or two before putting it in the tank. I may just do that. I'm also going to add a bunch of new plants at the same time, hoping that may help to keep the algae bloom at a mininum....and....just to keep this post in the spirit of this thread.....here's a few pics to share....
